چکیده

The present study carried out to with a view characterize and validate the RAPD marker’s genetic diversity at morphological molecular levels in thirty cultivars of onion (Allium cepa L.). This work aimed determine their important traits, DNA polymorphism decipher variation. agro-morphological characters such as germination percentage, plant height, leaf colour, waxiness, foliage attitude, bulk colure shape genotypes were studied. assessed using four markers (OPB-09, OPA-16, OPB-16, OPA-09). It revealed significant genotypic differences genotypes. Significant was observed by UPGMA analysis. analysis yielded 98.21% average (genetic diversity) 901 amplicons. OPA-9 showed 100% only OPB-9 produced 92.85% polymorphism. primers discriminated into two major clusters method UPGMA. cluster (cluster-A) contains 28 another minor (cluster-B) which (1403 1432/33). exhibited statistically variability, gives an opportunity use them for varietal development through breeding programs. key findings current would be insight strategies cultivars.

Effect of sulphur application in onion (Allium cepa L.)

An experiment was conducted to study the effect of sulphur application on growth, yield and quality of onion at Horticulture Farm of Institute of Agriculture, Visva-Bharati, Sriniketan. The treatments consisted of six incremental doses of sulphur application (10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 kg ha-1) and no sulphur application (control, 0 kg S ha-1). Treatments were arranged in Randomized Block Design...

Genetic Diversity of Bread Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Genotypes Using RAPD and ISSR Molecular Markers

The importance of grain cultivation especially wheat is obvious in terms of providing human and animal food and its impact on the economy of human societies. The reduction of genetic diversity in cultivars prevents increasing yields in line with rising demand and consumption. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the compatibility of them and increase their genetic extent. In the current, the g...

NUTRIENT DIAGNOSIS ( CND ) OF ONION ( Allium cepa L . )

Nutritional constraints often restrict yields of crops in farmers’ fields. Plant nutrient status is currently diagnosed using empirically derived nutrient norms from arbitrarily defined high and low yielding subpopulations above a quantitative yield target. Generic models can assist Compositional Nutrient Diagnosis (CND) in providing a yield cutoff value between high-and lowyielding subpopulati...

Estimation of Genetic Diversity in Onion (Allium cepa L.)

The experiment was conducted at the field laboratory of the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Gazipur during November 2008 to March 2009 to estimate the genetic diversity of exotic and local onion. Ten genotypes of onion were evaluated for 16 characters in a randomized complete block design to study the genetic divergence throu...

De Novo Assembly and Transcriptome Analysis of Bulb Onion (Allium cepa L.) during Cold Acclimation Using Contrasting Genotypes

Bulb onion (Allium cepa) is the second most widely cultivated and consumed vegetable crop in the world. During winter, cold injury can limit the production of bulb onion. Genomic resources available for bulb onion are still very limited. To date, no studies on heritably durable cold and freezing tolerance have been carried out in bulb onion genotypes. We applied high-throughput sequencing techn...
